Homemade baby shower favors serve three purposes.

They are nicer looking than anything you could buy at a store. They can be made into gifts for the guests to take home and you can also baby gifts out of them!

Starting with decoration style favors we have the little mint bags made out of mesh. You will need approximately two yards of netting per 15 mint bags (depending on size). You may also want to pick up a few packages of the small plastic baby bottle or rattle decorations. Then you will need mints or chocolate to fill them with and a colorful ribbon to tie them off with.

Cut your squares to the size you want 4X4 is a nice size place the candy in the center and gather the edges and tie with a pretty ribbon attach the plastic bottle or rattle. Place them in front of each guest's chair.

Floating candles are very elegant homemade baby shower favors as well. You will need wine glasses preferably goblets, decorate the stem with small flowers ribbons and attach a few of the plastic baby decorations. You can purchase a set of candle molds in baby themes; small wicks and a package of wax (colored works best). Melt the wax and pour it in to the mold, then slip the wick in the center. When it is hard, carefully remove it. Make extra for each guest.

At the shower fill the glass half full with colored water, place the candle inside and light it. The guests can take home the floating candle holders and a few extra candles. You can also buy scented oils to spruce them up.

Other perfect age old homemade baby shower favors for the mom to be are the diaper cakes.

This can be made several ways. The basic way is to use white cloth diapers or bib wipes (6 of them.) to make the center of the cake. You need something round such as a large tub of baby wipes. Wrap the diapers around the baby wipes use cloth diaper pins to secure it. Then you can place things like a rattle, diaper rash cream, spoon set or any small and somewhat thin items. The baby will need just tuck them into the layers of diapers.

Top off with a big bow! You can also make a square cake following the same directions just make sure the item in the center is small enough for the diapers to fit all the way around such as a small packages of pampers. The diaper cake not only makes a unique decoration it's a great gift for mom too!
